There I was at my school library late one night. I was very tired but I had some books to check out before I could head home. I was on the third floor in this beautiful building that I have been in many times before but for some reason that particular night, I paid attention to this outstanding mural on the wall. I stop what I was doing and stared at this masterpiece. The mural was filled with earth tone colors that could lift anyone spirit. There were faces of famous Jazz musicians, Civil rights leaders, Christian missionaries that help mode the world into the place of opportunity that we see today.  As I finished checking out my books and began to walk towards the elevator it hit me!! Art is life we must paint our own masterpiece.

 I’d like to think that my life tell a story that would inspire many. That is why we are here to help others acheive there full potential.  When you allow God to use you your journey begins. The layout starts right before your eyes.  Living in your divine purpose will bring joy to your heart just because you’re standing there.

 When I decided to take a leap out on faith to follow what God wanted me to do, that was just another Illustration that was being made for my masterpiece. God has amazing things that he wants us to experience. He will even send people our way to help you cope when things seem hard. "Isn't he awesome" Once you let go of your fear and comfort zone that is when he will put you into position to be a testimony to others. Every part of your layout will be used to glorify him. Allow him to be your teacher he always brings out the best in his students. Not only will your life be a masterpiece but it will show how great God really is, through his work in you.

Every women as a child has a fairy tale dream that she will marry a prince on her wedding day.  The vision stays with her throughout adolescents of living behind a white picket fence or a gated community with a beautiful and perfect family.  Although this is what many girls wish for the reality of this life is few and far between.  Many women finish college and get into their careers hoping, praying and waiting for there knight and shining armor will appear.

  A woman needs to be prepared to be a wife when Mr. Right comes. Not just educated and financially secure but ready to play your important role. A man who findeth a wife findeth a good thing Proverbs 18:22. This means you are to add, please and support your husband. Understanding that God made us from man, he is to lead and be the head of the household, with a wife who will be there through it all.

Testing the waters will only lead to heartbreak. Many women think sex will eventually get a man to marry them that is the farthest from the truth. If you think being promiscuous will lead you to a husband you will come up disappointed, ashamed and regretful. This will make you more confused about who you are, and what you really want and deserve. No man wants a woman who everyone has had. It’s important that you pray and ask God to be your husband until he provides you with the right one. Stay pure so when your physical husband appears you will be able to clearly see who he is.

In order to become a Mrs. you have to be willing to sacrifice and allow God to choose who you become one with.

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

As I was standing there listening to KeKe speak, I realized that we had a similar history. Keke Wyatt was married at age 18 like myself and started having a family at that age as well. Throughout her marriage she suffered through physical abuse. Like many women including myself we stay to keep our families together. This road is not an easy one to take, sacrificing your early years knowing in back of your mind that no one deserves to be treated in this manner, children in the picture or not. Keke Wyatt started singing this song called “Love under new management" that says your worth real love. She found real love after years of being abused in her previous marriage. At the age of 29 Keke Wyatt is married to her new found love. She said "never give up on love be patience true love you'll find". Everyone deserve to have a someone special  in there life that will treat them like they are a queen. Like we deserve! You’re worth it. She brought tears to my eyes.

A FATHERLESS SOCIETY = CREATING BLACK GAY MALES (DON’T TURN A BLIND EYE)

As I was recently reading the daily headlines I came across an article about a CNN news correspondent Don Lemon, stating to the public that he was gay in his new book. I was in complete shock saying to myself not another black male that have drifted to the other side. Being an activist in many genres including equal rights for all people, I have no personal issues with this but, It brought some sadness to me due to the fact the trouble African American  woman has encountered trying to find a life partner. It seems if though many of our man have forsaken us.

 I understand that childhood sexual abuse can cause a child to be forever torn, I’m sure we all have experience this type of  behavior or know someone who has. Is this really the underline reason for the epidemic of black gay males in our society? I decided to dig a little bit deeper, when I sat back and did my own observation I noticed that many gay boys turned men have grown up in fatherless environments. They have been raised by none other then women who are sisters, moms, aunts and grandmothers.

Young boys tend to model after what they see, their greatest influence in their everyday life…that is the nature of a male child.  Many would disagree because all boys raised by a woman are not gay, that is a true statement, but the numbers are staggering.  They seem to be more confused about there sexuality or don’t know the first thing about how to be a man. This is a hard pill to swallow knowing the percentage of single motherhood in the African American community. It has become so normal that many women have embraced these men and except them as there girlfriend.

You are a true trendsetter to have a gay male best friend on your arm. This shows how much our communities are in the danger zone.  As a parent of a male child I know the importance of a positive male influence in their life could mean life or death. We must not point fingers at one another for this serious condition that have unfolded right in front of our eyes, but that take responsibility for our actions today. Do not take a blind eye to this epidemic but open your eyes and look around and decide to take steps toward changing our destructive pattern, that have caused many male boys to seek love from a man. They should have received this at home from there fathers.

 I have read some reports concerning this issue, their have been no known studies that have prove this logic to be completely true.  Saying this is the cause for this epidemic in our young boys, is just an opinion. When everyone enters this world they are taught to be whoever they want to be. If they are never taught how to be, who they really are, with no example of their self identity, how will they ever know who they are? Once confused it will be a trickling effect of experimentations that can be forever daunting.

Single moms must take time and evaluate your male child thought patterns to see what there lacking and work on fulfilling those needs either through mentorship or by a trusted male influence.

With this cycle their will a continual pattern of down low brothers, believe it, it’s reality. With more boys that are being raised this way, this will cause our young girls to lack the man they deserve.  Our women will continue to have trouble finding a man, to be the head of the home that we deserve and desire.

Society today does not encourage the image of being you as good enough. Many have felt like they must follow images in music and television In order to be accepted. This leaves no room for individuality and self-growth. With this growing trend many children and some adults fall into a trap of pleasing others instead of themselves. This creates a since of feeling lost and alone in a world where they do not fit in. I must admit the ads on television are great at convincing how you should look physically, and what you should put on your body in order to be deemed beautiful. You will never feel quite good enough!

If you decide to fall victim to those images then you have allowed society to create you and instead making this decision for yourself. The fear of not being normal will cause people to forever be lost in a valley without fulfilling their true potential. The thought of being lonely will allow you never reach that position of personal growth. What is truly normal? Who made the rule that everyone must look and act the same? Being unique brings beauty to the world and makes it so captivating.

I recently interviewed a young woman named Tremeka Williams who shared her experience with me about her son being bullied at school in Atlanta, Georgia for being different. Tremeka always encourage individuality and high self- esteem with her children. The bullying came from not only students but teachers as well. Not understanding why he was being treated this way, he resulted in trying to take his own life in order not to face the pain of not being accepted by his peers and role models.

This experience encouraged Tremeka Williams to start an organization Mothers with a Voice which promotes taking a stand for children with no voice who are dealing with bullying in local schools all over the country. Whether we believe it or not this is a serious issue that affecting our youth. Their have been national recognition concerning bullying where Michelle Obama, have voiced her opinion on this issue that is causing our children to feel helpless. Taking a stand against this type of behavior, will then allow children and adults to understand acceptance is what needs to take place in order for this behavior to change.

We all are made in the image of God and once we understand that, we can accept how wonderful it is to see the beauty in everyone. If you know anyone that is being bullied or if you are being bullied yourself. Tell someone, don’t turn a blind eye, instead take a stand and stop the cycle of bullying. It is a matter of life and death.

Reading an article about the 90 young girls who are pregnant in Memphis Tennessee’s high and middle school’s triggered some unresolved emotions inside of me that I remember when I was their age. Teen pregnancy is an issue dear to my heart, knowing many women who have experienced this and I also have a deep relationship with this as well; I understand the effects of what teen pregnancy can do to a person’s life. This is just not an issue of morality but also a self-esteem and economical issue. Teaching children to be abstinent is wonderful but it won’t keep them from refraining from sex.
Knowing the consequences of conceiving a child when they are a child themselves will be a good mixture for change in their behavior. Teen pregnancy not only change your life forever but it can cause many hardships that some could not handle on their own. Understanding the decisions that are made at the age of 16 will truly affect your life at 30. Not being able to fully educate yourself is a downfall that many teen moms face. There is no guarantee that the father of the child will play an active and supportive role in you and your child’s life.  Not only will this cause a serious economic weight on your life but, mentally this is a challenging task to face when the maturity level is not there for the parent.

The loss of one’s freedom is one of the biggest consequences there is. Life is no longer about you, but the child. This can be a dream killer for many which can lead to depression. The most difficult reality about teen pregnancy is just not the hardships the young women may face. It is that the child will also suffer along with the mother. Many times they don’t have an opportunity to have a full childhood, unlike other children who are in a two parent home that are financially stable. Many times this can turn into a vicious cycle that can repeat itself with single motherhood in a family.  Having a husband at an appropriate age, then deciding to have children could be the best gift that you could ever give yourself and your child. The chances of finding a husband after you are a single mom could be slim.

To avoid the setbacks and heartaches it is better to make wiser decisions when it comes to your body. Treat your body like a temple at all times, when you do that the next person will respect you as well. Many parents who have teenagers today should take out the time to build self-confidence, responsibility and accountability in their child. Do not be afraid to talk about the details of sex and abstinence and most of all the consequences of these actions. All girls should have an opportunity to live and pursue all their dreams and goals before they are mothers. When they become fulfilled and educated parents they can pour this into their children’s lives.  Fulfilled children will create powerful and successful adults. Let your light shine today by protecting the most precious gift you ever had and that is you.

 It seem like every woman today want to be considered the next bad b*tch. Thinking that acheving this goal would put them up into a certain standard in life.~Era Nichole    

Everywhere I turn their are promotions on beauty and hair products including high fashion. I can not lie I fall victim to the machine to at times. I mean look at the music videos and commercials, we can't forget the infamous magazines. It is everywhere a standard on the expectations of beauty for women. I recently seen the Weight Watchers commercial with Jennifer Hudson. She looks amazinly beautiful which I thought she always was but these images is shoved down our throats at least thirty times a day. I know I'm not the only one who started seriously counting the calories.


 

 Between those images and the daily compeition in the atlanta social scene, it is hard to wrap my head around the things women will go through to be considered a bad b*tch. In recent news reports there was a year 20 old black woman from London who flew over to Philadelphia,Pennsylvania to meet with a unknown person in a hotel room, to receive buttocks injections due to a recent rejection at a casting call for a rap video. She died hours later from complications from the injections. The perception of what is a bad b*tch runs far deeper than anyone can ever imagine.



If a women think that being the most beautiful girl in world will keep a mans attention think again. I never understood this concept until I sat down with some well educated attractive men that would be considered a catch. Most of them said they could have a very attractive female that they are dating and if they go out and see another attractive women pass their eyes would wander. This is because men are always attracted to something new. They thrive on variety not just beauty.

A light bulb went off in my head. Now women can understand why the Halle Berry's and Eva Longoria's of the world would still get cheated on. These women are considered the epitome of beauty in our society. Their are so many beautiful women in the world with great bodies but what do you have besides your beauty that will make you stand out. I know a woman with substance that have a passion in life would cause a man to focus their attention on what would make him a better man. Not just eye candy on their arm.

I understand that the quality of a women do not have any thing to do with looks. It's only her character and strength that would a blessing for that man. A true example of beauty is being self less. If you were to contract a form cancer that would cause you to lose your appearence would that make you any less beautiful. Now I'm not saying don't keep your self up but you have to understand your motives behind beauty. Do not allow the your image of beauty to be the force behind attracting a certain type of man or lifestyle. Understand as much time you spend on your physical appearence you should spend more on the person with in. Once you have a understanding of the machine which is the beauty and fashion industry it can no longer dictate your life. You will not view your worth by retriving designer bags and clothes or even having the lastest hair weave.




 If you are empty inside you will have nothing to offer to keep a man's attention. When bad b*tch number 2 walks by you are out of luck. Some men are going to be dogs it is in their nature so they say. If he acts on his thoughts then he is not the one for you any way. If he is with you for your beauty as soon as something change he will direct his attention else where. It is important to build on substance.


Realistically I know the machine would never come to a end. The beauty industry is a billion dollar business. Money is what drives the world by any means necessary, even at the cost of our young girls and a lost generation. This message is for women to recognize the machine in their lives and take control over what they consider beautiful. Don't allow yourself to be thrown into societies expectations.

The Question of the day is would you marry a successful gay man in order to have life you always wanted??  In this day and age it seems that marriage is not the complete fairy tale that many women expect. They are simply surprised after the ceremony.  Once they begin to live the married life in reality many find themselves very unhappy, overwhelmed and some could even reach a form of depression.  Many have to deal with financial problems that were not sorted before the marriage, even sometimes infidelity in the early stages. Not including the drama that could result in a child custody battle if there was ever to be a divorce.

 This leads me to believe what some woman would do to guarantee a perfect life. If a man had all the qualities you wanted let's say he is like a best friend. He could be a magnificent cleaner the house stays spotless, he might even be a great cook. Going shopping would be an amazing adventure on a regular if you know what I mean.  He would be financially stable and very successful in his career. The only thing is that he is gay, could you be that women who would be willing to sacrifice real intimacy in order to be able to live the ideal life. Could you be the women who would be there to protect, the image knowing what the truth is behind closed doors. Sounds like a confidentiality agreement to me. Marrying for love in this day and age seems like a thing of the past. Why not choose to do what best benefit you in the long run, instead of focusing so much on passion. Look around at all the celebrity reality television shows that are based around finding a mate. These people are not exploiting themselves for no reason. Sounds like money is the motive to me, no one can truly find love in a competition, everyday someone is trying to be the person that reaches the top spot with a complete stranger make no sense.

Certainly there could be some downfalls in a relationship of this nature, but what relationship doesn’t have problems.  One problem you would not have is trying to pay light bill. The chances of finding a real and true love are slim to none there are no real guarantees in life. This beats being married 30 years with kids and you find out your husband is gay through some airport scandal. The single lady anthem was a stamp on how much this is relevant in our society at this time. Why not live your life to the fullest by turning your ideal life into a reality by marrying gay. Are you able to be Mrs. Cover Up??

Being women I have experience times where I realized that I was alone. That could bring some anxiety to some realizing that it is a fact. What can really scare you is when you don't see a change in your circumstances anytime soon. Learning how to be comfortable with your situation while allowing this time to be a growth process instead of feeling desperate. That would be ideal instead of swimming in your own agony.  Many tend to have to feel a void somehow or some way. Whether it's going out on social scenes every night of the week or even using promiscuity as a substitute for being alone. These are all dangerous, especially on how we view our selves. If you are incomplete by yourself how could be a fulfillment for someone else when they finally come into your life.

 Being whole is a part of becoming women. It's not about independence; own house, own car, two jobs but its learning to be happy with yourself by embracing your current situation. A lot of times women do not feel the need not to go out and enjoy life because no one is there. Instead of waiting for a man to call you to go out on a date take yourself on one. Appreciate your own company Why wait?? Some women don't even try to keep their selves up if they’re not dating anyone. You should look red carpet ready everyday not to the extreme but you know what I mean. Look good for you, eat healthy, exercise do the things you always wanted to do. Allow this time you have alone to become empowering and discover things inside of you that you didn't know you even had their, fulfill your passions and desires put you first. When you get into a habit where your jumping from relationship to relationship it can take away from your inner self then add.

 Many would put up with so much trama in their lives just for the sake of having someone. Even if it's a situation where there could be abuse involved or even infidelity. This is also very unhealthy cycle to introduce when there are children involved from previous relationships this could be detrimental for a child’s upbringing. I have seen it over and over again when the child grows animosity towards the parents because of their choices.

 When you can't learn to be alone you never get to your full potential in life there will always be some sort of brokenness in you. Men can sense this type of women and   usually would not allow themselves to become seriously involved. Men are searching for strong women who have her own identity. This would mean they could grow and accomplish things together. Once you grasp hold of your life being single then you will realize what your worth is. It will not be determined by a relationship any longer you will define it. Your mind and standards will change this is all a part of becoming a whole women. When that special person do come along you will be ready emotionally to handle a mature and fulfilling relationship.

As we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and celebrate his contributions to our society. The fact remains that even though we have come all long way we still have far to go. On January 8th, 2011 tragedy shock the world when a shooting broke out at a Safeway grocery store in Arizona. Where congress woman Gabrielle Gifford's was shot in the head. Six others was shot and killed as well on location. Gabrielle Gifford's was a democrat who was fighting for the everyday person, the voiceless. She supported our president Barack Obama health care bill and many of his efforts to promote economic change for all people. The country has seemed to be in an uproar since our president having been making positive changes for America. Many republicans’ conservatives have been angry about the progress. There have been a lot of back and forth between parties which have lead to angry citizens. Which could have led up to this horrible tragedy in Arizona? When does politics cross the line? Sarah Palin website has gun symbols across democrat’s areas in the United States which seem to be a target for violence. Gabrielle Gifford's offices were vandalized when the health care reform bill was passed. This tragedy reminds me of the difficult times African Americans had to go through in this country fighting just to drink out of the same water fountain. It was the same fight congress woman Gifford's was in it was just in a different format. Her mission is justice for all no matter what ethnic background or status you came from. We all deserve a chance, as I seen news reports all over the television about the shooting. One thing stood out the most a question was ask to congress woman Gifford's father "Did your daughter have any enemies?” He stated “yes the whole tea party". In many ways this party can relate to many parties and organizations that was joined together to fight against equality, justice and freedom for all people years ago. They have shown their face. We have to put on a face of  Dr. King by using a non-violent approach to make sure that our grand children's children have a fair chance. We should never give up on what is right no matter how hard the battle may be. If you never run for office or have a place on a political forum you can be an advocate in your home by teaching your children about their history, this will be the beginning of change for our country that would be an example of Dr. King Dream. "Knowledge is Power."

GOOD VS GREAT

Their as have been a lot of talk about Oprah's new television network called OWN. She did a interview with Barbara Walters that was really compelling not because she is my role model but because this women shows unimaginable strength. Their are only a few people on this earth who driven and self- confident as Oprah. In order to separate yourself for the average day to day person you have to be comfortable in your own skin. Know your purpose behind your goals. Last but not least be focus don't let people opinions get in the way of your goals. Fear is another deadly poison that can cripple you from your goals many people never fulfill their full potential, just because the fear of failure. Failure is apart of life that everyone will experience at least once. I would rather deal with my failures then to never have tried at all. Being great requires a lot of sacrifice think about it,  if we didn't have the greats like Martin Luther King Jr and Maya Angelou where would we be. They didn't allow fear to control their goals and because of this they have changed our lives and history forever.They will always will be remembered for leaving such a legacy. Are you doing what it takes to leave your own legacy? Separate yourself today from the average person by producing greatness in all you do. Don't allow people are situations to control your outcome. Take charge of your life today and produce GREATNESS.

I'm so energetic and excited about another year, another opportunity, another chance. We are all blessed to see 2011 because many people did not make it. The main reason why I am so excited about this year is because I have finally made a decision to be FREE. You probably wondering what I mean right?? I was not in jail or anything like that, but was in bondage with the people that surrounds me. Sometimes people can hold you hostage and you do not even realize it's happening. It's something like a secret trap. They can hold you down and make you feel that where you are in life is it. There is no chance for a revival. I call them joy snacthers, cripplers, dream killers, blood suckers, and freebies. They must be remove in order for you to accomplish ANYTHING, of course they want you to be just like them. You know the old saying misery loves company! I know it will be hard for you to remove yourself from something so comfortable. But the only way to achieve and strive for any goals is to become uncomfortable. Comfort is not a option. Free yourself today and move toward what you really want in life and surround yourself with only positive people, that have there own goals in life. They might come right away, but once your mind frame change your company will change. That is the way you will SLOWLY SURELY come into your destiny. I DID
